Tumor Marker

Dear Barb’s Army,
Barb got the results of her CA19-9 test. Her tumor marker has gone up from 176 to 269. We were all hoping the number had gone down, however, it isn’t up that much so keep believing this chemo will work! Barb said she feels much better after this round of chemo with the added fluids, so she is counting her blessings to be out and about on Memorial Day Weekend! Enjoy your extra day off and keep the faith. Love, MK

Third Time is a Charm!

Dear Barb’s Army,
Barb had chemo today and is feeling pretty well so far! Hurray! The doctors thought that maybe she has been dehydrated, so they gave her some IV fluids before starting chemo. She also drank a lot of water during her treatment today. She went home and was watering the pots in her backyard. (The theme today is WATER!) Two weeks ago she could hardly get out of bed for 6 days. So, hopefully with the anti-nausea medicine she will feel better this round. She had a CA 19-9 taken and will know the results in 2-3 days. I’ll post those as soon as I hear what the numbers are.
Keep the prayers going. Barb says THANKS for all the support. She reads her message wall and is so inspired by all the words of encouragement! Love, MK
PS I just have to add that my son Jarrett shot a 65 today at the Northern California Golf Championships at Diablo Grande in Patterson, CA. It is his lowest score EVER and he was first place medalist in Northern California. Best of all, his team qualified in second place to go to the STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS! Way to go Jarrett! Love, Mom, Dad, and sister Nicole!
PPS Congratulations to Barb’s nephew Jordan who just graduated from Garces!

Barb feeling Better

Dear Barb’s Army,
Barb is feeling better after lasts week chemo. She is finally up and about. She thinks all the dizziness might be from the new anti-nausea medicine she was on, so she is going to quit that medicine and stick with the Zofran.
Barb has one more round of chemo (third) and then they will check her CA 19-9 marker. If it has gone down, Barb will know that the chemo is probably working and all this suffering is not in vain. After the 4th round, Barb will head back to Mayo for another CT scan. That will probably be in mid to late June.
Barb is going to take advantage of feeling well and get some emails answered and get out of the house. Most of you know Barb doesn’t like to be cooped up! Keep the prayers going as Barb tells me she “feels” them all! Keep the faith! Love, MK

Round 2 Chemo

Dear Barb’s Army,
Barb had a rough day at chemo yesterday. It made her sick from the get-go, so chemo had to be stopped for a bit and finished late into the evening. Barb doesn’t feel well today, as she has lots of nausea. Please keep Barb in your prayers. She has a tough time talking when she feels terrible…..hard to believe I know….so texts, emails and cards are the way to communicate with her for the first few days after chemo. Thanks. Love, MK

Week ONE in the books!

Dear Barb’s Army,
Just a quick update: Barb did her 46 hours on the Filfiri and was nauseated for a few days after the treatment. This is a typical side effect. Barb took her Zofran for anti-nausea, but it didn’t seem to help much. She is feeling better now and has a week more off, so she is hoping to enjoy it! I got this information from Dianne and Katie, as Barb has been resting a lot. Keep the prayers going for Barb and all cancer patients! Keep the FAITH! Love, MK
